Société Générale Cyprus was one of the original international banking units to settle in Cyprus. Our presence on the island commenced in 1985 as a partnership between Société Générale, the Sehnaoui Group of Lebanon and the Belgian Générale de Banque. In 1991, Société Générale purchased the Belgian Générale de Banque’s shares, increasing its participation to 51%.
Since January 1st 1993, we have adopted the name of our French parent company, Société Générale as we prepared to adapt the international retail banking model to the Cypriot market.
Société Générale Cyprus has been operating since 2002 as a fully licensed local bank, catering to resident in addition to non-resident clientele.
Our strategic position on the island allows us to serve an extensive range of clients, by taking advantage of our broad network of 1300 branches across 80 countries worldwide. Société Générale Cyprus’ location at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, allows a plethora of business prospects in the region and beyond.
We have commenced our venture to serve the local market by creating a network of branches across the island: Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Pafos and Paralimni. Through its branches, Société Générale Cyprus offers its expertise to both resident and non-resident clientele in all fields of financial services, such as corporate banking, retail banking, private banking and much more.
